Styleguide

This is the Spring 2016 megaZINE for Ivy Tech SOFAD. The theme this year was design trends. Perspective lines were used to move viewers through the magazine and help create unity. As the project leader, I created this Style Guide to be used by the different designers in order to ensure continuity throughout the project.

Six Page Spread

Spread 1

On the first two pages I carried the image across both pages and played with the margins and bleed in order to make the two pages appear as one. The headline font was picked for its futuristic look. The image was used to tie the two pages together along with directing the viewer's eye to the text.

Spread 2

The next two spreads I used the inside margins and bleeds to separate the pages. The image on the third page was used to tie the article with the cover. On the forth page I used the preview sentence from google fonts to create a texture and background.

Spread 3

With this last spread I used a strong grid layout on the fifth page to contrast the curves I used to represent a rainbow on the sixth page.

This visual six page spread designed for the megaZine was inspired by the season preview sections found in fashion magazines.

Cover

The concept behind the cover is looking closer and ahead. I used the fisheye to give the illusion of magnification. The perspective of the background image helps lead the viewer forward and into the magazine. This forward perspective helps to reinforce the concept of looking ahead and was carried on within the magazine.
